I’m a professional portrait and reportage photographer working for editorial, charity, corporate and advertising clients. I shoot strong location portraits and powerful reportage images aiming to get a positive, natural and revealing feel to my photography while always searching for beauty and the satisfaction of good composition. I use my extensive picture editing, and art directing experience to research locations, get to know people and do my best to make the whole process fun for everyone involved while remaining professional and if necessary, as unobtrusive as possible.
I’ve been a freelance photographer for 5 years. Prior to this, from 2003 to 2009, I was a picture editor and photographer for The Times and before that I was a picture editor for numerous titles and organisations including The Guardian, Time Out, Melody Maker, Dorling Kindersley and Getty Images.
I’m currently working with Diabetes UK on a series of inspirational portraits of people who, like me, live with diabetes, and do active or unusual things to show that having the condition should not hold you back in life, and also to dispell the myth that the condition is always linked the overweight and those with unhealthy lifestyles. Other recent projects include reportage and portraits of children in Uganda, Guatemala and The Dominican Republic which are being used in a promotional campaigns for Compassion International, the american child sponsorship charity.
