Dr. J. Ashley Nixon is a photographer and filmmaker, sustainability advisor and teacher at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada.
Ashley has a unique blend of artistic and scientific skills that include technical writing, photography, and filmmaking, and public relations. He has global experience of managing environmental and social issues and a Ph.D. in ecology. His main photographic and film interest is in people, their environment and how they live their lives. His projects include a long-term assignment on sustainability issues in Peru. In Canada, he also photographs sports, music and other events that bring people together.
Prior to establishing his own business, J. Ashley Nixon Communications, Ashley held leadership roles in sustainability and corporate communications for an international energy company in North America.
His writing portfolio includes a published university textbook on environmental assessment, corporate sustainability reports, climate action reports, and social performance plans. He has published two photo books and his work was recently featured in Together 2017, a conference on the global sustainability goals. Recent film work includes a short documentary about sugarcane workers in Peru.
