Jayme Gershen

Jayme Gershen is a multimedia storyteller focused on stories of identity and second chancethrough the use of photo, video, sound, and digital platforms. She immerses herself in the lives of others through a series of documentary projects and fine art. Jayme uses humor and intimacy to focus on stories of second chances and a sense of place.
Jayme studied at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Miami International University. She has worked on documentary projects around the world, traveling from the Fiji Islands to Italy to explore compelling stories. Jayme has lived in Massachusetts, Vermont, Colorado, Florida and Colombia. She currently lives and works in Miami, FL., and was the 2012 Miami New Times Mastermind Honorable Mention. She was selected to participate in the 2015 Eddie Adams Workshop for documentary and photojournalism in New York and was the 2015 Artist in Residence at ICA Miami.
Jayme is currently working on several projects including a feature length documentary exploring stories of immigration that challenge perception, a film about what being American means through the eyes of Cuban-American electro-pop musicians, Afrobeta, and a photo series that investigates the environmental consequences of climate change in South Florida and the Caribbean.
