I am a journalist and author. I learned my trade at The Sunday Times, first as a writer on the magazine, then as Russian Affairs Editor on the foreign desk. I am now a travel writer, and a contributing editor at Condé Nast Traveller. I have been published in Wallpaper*, Time Out, High Life, Pure (St Barth), Architectural Digest (France and Germany), in various international editions of Vogue and GQ, and in The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph.
My Russian novel 'Devil's Acre' was published in 2013. I am working on a second novel, set in Moscow and entitled 'Truth Street'. I recently edited and curated 'The 21st-Century Novel'. This is an account of the Edinburgh World Writers' Conference of 2012-2013, and also a kind of snapshot of world literature at the start of the new millennium. It has just been published by the Edinburgh University Press.
