Julie Espinosa

Julie Espinosa is a video journalist based in Washington, DC with over ten years of experience in non-fiction visual storytelling. From 2004 to 2009, Julie worked on independent feature-length documentary films that premiered at the LA Film Festival, South By Southwest and the AFI Film Festival, and which aired on Showtime, LOGO and PBS. She has taught documentary film and video at the undergraduate level, to youth through a DC-based arts program and to elementary school students using iPads as video cameras. Julie has collaborated on numerous other video projects, including coverage of the 2015 protests against police brutality for AJ+, a short film on DC graffiti culture and a short film following three young women as they navigate the DC public school system. Currently, Julie covers global development, global health, humanitarian aid and sustainability for Devex, an online media organization. Julie has a BA in documentary film and video from Harvard University and an MA in Communication, Culture & Technology (CCT) from Georgetown University.
