Jeremy Starn is a freelance photographer and artist based in his home state of Connecticut. In 2014 he earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge. He has worked as an assistant gallery manager in several non-profit and private galleries and has co-curated several pop up shows around Boston. His artwork has been shown in museums and galleries in New England and internationally.
In 2014 Jeremy moved to Thailand to work with the Council on International Educational Exchange. As a Program Facilitator for their alternative education program, he helped promote experiential learning through interactive research. He was also a part of the grassroots news-reporting platform, The Isaan Record, which shared local reactions to national government policy changes during and after the May 2014 military coup.
Jeremy Starn’s work has revolved around themes of globalization, development and his relationship to the landscape. Past projects have included working with an environmental conservation group in Cambridge documenting the creation of a natural wastewater treatment system within a protected wildlife reservation. In Thailand, he recorded the lives of villagers who opposed the new military government. His recent work has used unique satellite imagery to explore humanity’s greatest impacts on the environment. He continues to photograph landscapes in curiosity of what it means to be of the land.
