I'm a freelance writer and filmmaker based in New York City. My passion are longform magazine and video pieces.
I was born in Berlin, in the heart of the Cold War, in a city with a divided soul. When I was 13, I tried to write books. About a disabled teenager and the Middle Ages. I thought it would be easy to tell stories - it wasn't. So I decided to learn it and become a journalist.
In the eight years before moving from Germany to New York in 2013, I interned at six media companies, worked as a TV producer/editor at a news desk and an entertainment show, and wrote for magazines, newspapers and online publications about politics, culture and media.
It's the unusual that fascinates me; people and events on the edge of society. Among the pieces I have produced is a narrative article about a 65-year-old celebrity of Berlin's techno scene, a short documentary about the last civilian lighthouse keeper in the United States, a longform article about race and the model industry and a video series about HIV.
My strength? Story ideas.
