Johanna Andrea Alarcón Alvarez 26 years old Photojournalist and freelance documentist based in Ecuador, focusing on social, cultural, human rights and gender issues.
His work has been published in community and independent media such as: Folha de Sao Paulo- Internacional, El País, Bex Magazine, Lifestyle.kiki Magazine, The Spacebar, Media Ninja (BRA), Emerging (Ar), Faction Latina, El Churo Communications (ECU), Community Press (GTM), Guy Woodland, La Vaca (AR).
She has participated in exhibitions such as: Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism (DE) Visible Cities (ECU), Emergencies (BRA), FLUZ (ECU), Spiritualities (ECU), among others.
Nominated for The Joop Swart Masterclass 2017-2018, 6x6 Global Talent Latin America 2017. Winner of the Mentorship The Everyday Projects 2018-2020. Member of Native Agency, Fluxus Foto. She`s member of PH Museum, FotografasLatam and FotoAlbúm. Selected Tutor of the 20 Photographers Bolivia 2018, and Winner of the Photojournalism for Peace Award "Juan Antonio Serrano" professional category in 2016. Honorable Mention in the photobook competition RM 2016 with the project "The 3x8" Behind the City. Young Ted-ex talker in 2015.
Currently teaching at the Metropolitan Institute of Design Quito.
