José Cendón, born in 1974, Spanish, studied economic science, journalism, and cinema before turning to a profession in journalism. From 2002 he has worked mainly in Africa, but also in South America and the Middle East.
He is now based in Amman from where he covers the Middle East, combining photo assignments and video for different clients.
His work has appeared in major publications, including The Atlantic Magazine, Time Magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, Stern, Internazionale, Leica World Magazine and others.
He has won the World Press Photo Awards, Pictures of the Year , Leica Oskar Barnack, Best of Photojournalism, China International Press Photo contest and Ortega y Gasset.
His photographs have been the object of several solo and group exhibitions all around the world.
