Julie Platner
Chapel Hill, NC, USA
Born 1982 in California. After earning a degree in Communication Studies, I began working in film production for various independent films and major networks such as HBO.
In 2009, after completing coursework at the International Center of Photography and independently building a documentary portfolio, I began taking breaking news and feature editorial assignments, nationally and internationally for publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, De Le Monde Du, D La Repubblica, Stern Magazine, Forbes and among others.
In 2010 I began work on a self produced feature story that became breaking news, landing on the front page of the New York Times. CBS' "60 Minutes" licensed video footage that I gathered during a year of documentation and produced a segment that opened their 2011 season.
I have work in the Civil Rights Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
