Kael Alford

Kael is a documentary photographer, writer and author based in Dallas, Texas. She develops long-term, documentary
projects about social issues, violent conflict and the human relationship to the natural environment, particularly those stories underrepresented in mass media narratives. Her photographs from Iraq from the series and book “Unembedded: Four Independent Photojournalists on the War in Iraq” (Chelsea Green, 2005) are held in the High Museum of Art Atlanta’s permanent collection among others. Her ongoing work "Bottom of da Boot" about the impact of the oil and gas industries on the coast of Louisiana was commissioned by the High Museum and exhibited there in 2012. The companion book was published by Fall Line Press, Atlanta, GA (2012). Alford teaches photography and journalism at Southern Methodist University and is represented by Panos Pictures in London. She is available for assignment.
