Toronto, ON, Canada
Kenya-Jade Pinto is an Indo-African/Canadian documentary photographer and lawyer based out of Toronto. She grew up chasing crabs on Diani Beach, on the southern Kenyan coast, before moving to Calgary in 2001.
In 2015, on assignment with Photographers Without Borders, Kenya-Jade photographed HIV/AIDS education initiatives in rural Uganda. She was later commissioned by the International Commission of Jurists in Nairobi to photograph the lived experiences of Internally Displaced Peoples affected by post-election violence in a project titled, Not Yet Home, and led a photo-advocacy initiative with Level, a Canadian charity, to illuminate the access to justice crisis in Canada.
Kenya-Jade is currently an Associate Producer on SCARBOROUGH, a film based on the award-winning book by Catherine Hernandez about three kids who rise above a system that consistently fails them. She produces and co-hosts The Ways We Are, a podcast that explores personal identity and unpacks the seemingly fragmented bits.
She is multilingual and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations as well as a Juris Doctor (cum laude) with a specialization in International law.
