France Keyser
Agence photographique M.Y.O.P
La Roque-d'Anthéron, France
She was born two years after May 1968 and
grew up in the countryside, in Champagne.
Graduated in mathematics, she joined the
« Louis Lumière » School.
She discovered Paris and photography in her
twenties, photographing all the jazz clubs of
the city before turning to news reporting for
the international press. She has worked in
Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya,Turkey, Israel
and Palestine. These trips to countries at war
allowed her to share the life of people facing
extreme situations. She now concentrates on
exploring tensions within French society.
Since 2004, France Keyser has been living in
Marseille. After 4 years of photographic
enquiries, she produced a book about the
Muslims of France, Nous sommes Français et musulmans (2010, Autrement Publishing),
with texts by Vincent Geisser.
Since her first work on Muslims in France, she had been developing a documentary
research on her fellow citizens at the heart of the news. By establishing a photosociological
portrait of these often "controversial" actors, she explores the tensions of
French society. Her photographs show citizens engaged in their society, and a France that
changes its face. By going to meet them, she want to offer her point of view.
She also works for the French daily and weekly press, on news headlines.
France Keyser has been a member of Agence M.Y.O.P since 2011.
Married, she has two children.
