I’m an independent journalist, writer, photographer and researcher focused on environmental crime and environmental security in biodiversity hotspots. My geographical area of interest spans Turkey, the Caucasus and Iran.
From 2013-2015, I worked as a freelance journalist, photographer and rapporteur based in Egypt and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, though I also reported on stories from Southern Iraq, Jordan, Rojava, Georgia and Sweden. Topics I covered included water scarcity and resource conflicts, climate change, science and research, the humanitarian crises in Iraq and Syria, food, education, health and culture.
Publications and clients include Nature Middle East, UNFPA, Al Jazeera English, Eldiario.es, The National, Newsfixed Insight, Egypt Independent and Cairo Climate Talks, among others.
I’m always interested in collaborations, and I’m available for freelance writing and rapporteur commissions and research consultancies.
