Kevin Martin is the director of the Kalish visual editing workshop. Previously Martin was the photo director at the North State Journal, a new newspaper based in Raleigh, North Carolina, a photo editor for the Associated Press in New York, visuals editor at the Knoxville News Sentinel and a photo editor at the San Antonio Express-News and The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Martin has a master's degree in photography from Ohio University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University. Before seeing the light of picture editing, he was a staff photographer at The Augusta Chronicle in Georgia.
Martin is also is a past-president of The Associated Press Photo Managers and a past executive board member of the National Press Photographers Association. In 2014 and 2015 he was a juror for the Pulitzer Prize in news and feature photography.
