Lars Boering is Managing Director of World Press Photo.
He has been actively involved with photography for several years. He (co)produced exhibitions with photographers, Festivals, museums and art foundations. As an advisor he is working together with several professional partners actively involved in the creative industries and advertising business. Together they add different opinions on and solutions to the projects and brands they work on.
In 2008 he founded Lux Photo gallery: showcasing photography that demonstrated creative integrity and intent, originality, narrative and aesthetic quality and a high level of craftsmanship. At the end of 2014 he stopped working for the gallery.
He worked as the director of the Federation of Dutch Professional photographers, improving the working position of photographers helping them to safeguard their copyright. In 2014 he merged all member associations into one strong professional organization Dutch Photographers (DuPho).
He initiated a bi-monthly talk show at Pakhuis De Zwijger in Amsterdam and at the Rotterdam Fotomuseum: a series of networking events where people and companies involved in the photo industry can meet up, resulting in many photographers obtaining new assignments, meeting editors and being selected for international exhibitions. The crowd funding concept 'Pitch your photo project' has become an important part of this talk show and has helped more than 75 photographers to fund their projects, raising more than 45.000 euros so far.
In 2010 he co founded the successful master class 'advanced story telling' at www.noorderlicht.com where he still teaches.
