Light Oriye is an Abuja-based Visual Storyteller from the oil rich Rivers State in Southern Nigeria. Passionate about a career environment conservation. He is the founder and Director, Livelens Studios, an independent film company committed to producing socially impacting documentaries.
A Foundry Photojournalism Alumni, he has a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State. He’s a member of Africa Photojournalism Database (APJD), a Joint Project by World Press Photo Foundation and Everyday Africa, and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Light loves telling stories of the people he meets over time through documentaries so that others can learn and have an insight into the lives of people remotely far from them. He personally believes that sharing stories would serve as inspiration to others and bring about change. Light has interest in environmental advocacy, documentary evidences of the issue/challenges faced by people in rural communities especially in terms of development, culture, social and economic related matters. He loves not only to tell their stories but also moved to preserve their culture in a professionally through the microphones and lenses.
