Laura is a documentary photographer, filmmaker and researcher, most recently affiliated with University of Oxford Border Criminologies Programme. In 2011, she graduated with distinction from the Documentary Photography & Photojournalism Masters Program at The London College of Communication. Her work is deeply focused on social issues, specifically exploring themes related to forced migration and its connection to colonial legacy.
Having spent four years in London, she has recently returned to the U.S. where her work has taken her back to the roots of Appalachia where she grew up, and to the borderlands of the Southwest, to further explore the topic of migrant detention; a project which grew out of her time looking at the experiences of asylum seekers in the U.K.
