After graduating in Sociology, Luca begins to collaborate with some NGOs as a social worker in marginal contexts. For the whole of 2003 he lived in Bolivia coordinating a shelter for street children and in that same year he developed a first photo reportage exhibited later in few Italian cultural centers. From 2004 to 2010 he carried on at the same time the activity of social researcher within Codici, an independent agency of Milan, and the activity of photographer. Since 2010 he decides to devote himself exclusively to photography while continuing to collaborate with third sector associations. In 2012 he was in Senegal to document the daylife of some young wrestlers, a awarded project exhibited in the Voies off de le Rencontres de Arles. From the end of 2014 Luca moved to Brazil from where he collaborates as a photojournalist with some international magazines. Since 2016 he’s represented by the Luz photo agency and since 2018 he joins the storyteller community Everyday Project. His interest in the more marginal submonds has led him to develop in recent years a daily documentation of the Sao Paulo’ crackland. This work got in 2021 the Colonna prize at the Sifest, the first prize at the Urban Photo Award and was shortlisted in the Gomma grant and in the Romano Cagnoni Award. In March 2021 was published his first photographic book "Selva di Pedra", which collects years of exploration in the most extreme contexts of the city of Sao Paulo.
