Lucian Perkins, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, worked as a staff photographer for The Washington Post for over 20 years, where he covered major international events, including Russia since 1988, the wars in the former Yugoslavia, the first Intifada, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also worked closely with the online version of the newspaper to produce many of their first multimedia, interactive projects such as the Siberia and Finland Diaries. Currently, Perkins is an independent photographer and filmmaker concentrating on documenting pressing social issues in America as well as genocide overseas.
