I am a documentary photographer and photojournalist from Kranj, Slovenia. I have a BA in English and Journalism from the university of Ljubljana and have been working as a journalist and photojournalist since 1995. I specialize in in-depth stories and hard news. I have worked with many respected magazines, covering culture, entertainment and events, before moving to pressing social and environmental issues, and hard news.
I am currently a regular contributor to National Geographic Junior and Xinhua News Agency. I have also produced long-term stories for National Geographic Slovenia and National Geographic Traveler (Slovenia). My news photos are distributed by Xinhua News Agency (China) and its partner agencies (Corbis, Getty, Sipa USA...). My older news photos are distributed by Demotix Wire (London) and Imago (Berlin). My most known stories are a cross section of my work: A story about the hardships of poor fishermen trying to make a living on the Marmara sea during summer when fish move north. A continuous coverage of protests in Slovenia. The story about safeguarding the Venetian lagoon that is endangered by climate change, rising sea levels and sinking. And the most known story about Barbara, a girl with severe cerebral palsy, who is intelligent despite the severity of her illness, and communicates using her eyes.
