Madeleine Bazil (b. 1995) is a photographer and writer based between Cape Town, Scotland, and Washington DC. She is passionate about making art, amplifying unheard voices, and exploring this strange and wonderful planet. Her documentary work puts a focus on societal and individual memory of collective cultural trauma, interests stemming from experience in the NGO and nonprofit world. Formally trained in studio art and attentive to composition, colour theory, and classical modes of portraiture, her praxis lives at the intersection between journalism and fine art in the pursuit of honest and captivating storytelling.
