Maite Hernández Mateo is a Spanish freelance photographer born in Pamplona, Spain and
currently based in New York. She graduated from the The International Center of Photography
(ICP) in New York in 2010. She was awarded the John & Anna Maria Phillips Foundation
Scholarship for Photojournalist. Prior to ICP she studied fine arts at Bilbao University in
Spain.Her personal photographic work focuses on human rights issues, specifically immigration,
indigenous people and women’s issues. Maite has worked in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico,
India, Nepal, New York and Spain. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, CNN,
The Wall Street Journal, Telemundo among others.

After 24 Years Back in Mexico

Angelo Cabrera, who lived in New York for 24 years as an undocumented immigrant, is back in San Antonio Texcala, Mexico, the town where he was born, and is barred from returning to the United States.
