Marella was born in London, UK and brought up in Paris, France.
She read Philosophy at Heythrop College, UCL, and received an MFA (Hons) in Creative Writing from Kingston University.
Marella is bilingual in French/English and has a good knowledge of Spanish and Italian.
In 2014. after an extensive and successful career as an actress and theatrical producer, Marella took the decision to dedicate herself to her long standing love of photography.
Recently, she studied street-photography under Antonio Olmos of the Observer and attended a workshop with Ed Kashi of VII agency, in Mexico.
Motivated by socio-political issues, Marella prefers documentary work over more formal studio photography but enjoys street portraits and natural light portraiture. Her most pressing project is a photographic essay: 'Living with Cancer' - An Intimate Portrait' - Following a loved one as he goes through treatment.
She will be starting on her MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at UAL, London in September 2016.
Marella's photographs can be found in the collections of private individuals in Switzerland, Great Britain and the USA.

As a Freelance member of the NUJ, Marella is looking to expand her work in photojournalism and would welcome enquiries about NGO work or assignments. She is available to travel worldwide.

Prostate Cancer - An Intimate Portrait.
An ongoing documentary to instruct and raise awareness of prostate cancer. Work in progress over two years including 50 portraits of prostate cancer sufferers from across the UK culminating in a possible multi media show and online presentation. TBA. Looking for sponsorship.
