Marie Arago

I am a photographer currently based in Miami and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
I was born and raised in California. While studying film I became obsessed with the still image and decided to pursue photography. I graduated from the International Center of Photography in 2004 and have since worked as a photographer, educator and producer of photography workshops around the world. In 2010 I co-founded Fotokonbit, an organization that teaches photography to youth and adults in Haiti and encourages students to use photography to explore and represent their lives, ideas and communities.
My photographic work is inspired by cultural identity, religion and history and has been based primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean. I am interested in being part of collaborative and participatory photography projects.
