Mariella Furrer (Swiss/Lebanese) has lived in Kenya most of her whole life. She attended the International Centre of Photography in NYC, and has since been working as a freelance photographer based between Kenya and South Africa. She has covered Africa extensively and has worked on stories in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Mariella is a multi-award winning photographer and a published author. Her book My Piece of Sky came out in 2014.
Mariella’s photography has appeared in various books and publications around the world (New York Times, LIFE, Outside Magazine, Sunday Times Magazine, Paris Match, TIME, Newsweek, among others). Her work on the Rwandan Genocide is on permanent display at the Memoria y Tolerancia Museum in Mexico City.
Mariella was a jury member of World Press Photo 2015
Mariella has worked with Ogilvy & Mather in NYC, 72 & Sunny, LA and BrandX, London for Siemens (South Africa, India, Turkey) and Hewlett Packard, Sandoz and Nestle.
