Marie is a freelance photojournalist and is born in 1992 in Belgium. She is represented by the Studio Hans Lucas and is based in Istanbul since 2016. She holds a permanent Turkish press card, an International and Belgian Press card.
She graduated in 2015 from the university IHECS, where she studied five years of photojournalism. She believes in the capacity of a camera to facilitate contacts between people and to testify unheard stories. Marie mainly documents the daily life of women. Through her reports, she focuses on resilience,struggles for better living conditions, migration, and human rights. Above all, her aim is to highlight change makers.
She won the jury prize and public prize of the Mentor Award in 2016 for her work « Tehran : the faces of independence » at the festival Visa Pour l Image in Perpignan. In 2018, she has been selected to participate to the Nikon-Noor Academy and she won the Vocatio 2018 Grant. Her work has been published in the Courrier International, Libération, Al Jazeera, Vice, Die Weltwoche, 6 Mois, Orient XXI, 24h01, L'Orient-Le Jour and The Daily Star among others.
