Looking back on my childhood, photography started early for me. My Grandfather was a photographer (vernacular) and I used to accompany him when he went out on early walks. However, photography didn’t excite me at the time, it was the walks that got me excited. My Grandfather and his walks taught me to appreciate everything and to be aware; as if I was always looking, and trying to understand what I was looking at.
Photography leaves me feeling routed in the environment, like a local while at the same time, I feel like a tourist on vacation. From objective, evidential photography to the more subjective, fictional take; my interests lie with both. I guess in some sense, I don’t want to be the master of one; I’d rather be the reactor to my environment, injecting relative multi-disciplinary philosophies.
