Melanie King is a multi-disciplinary artist, currently studying an MPhil in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Melanie is a recent graduate of the Masters in Art and Science at Central Saint Martins. Her current research is focused on the philosophy of science, particularly in the field of astronomy and photography.
In Melanie's practice, she explores the complex relationship between materials, light and our own stellar origins through the use of photosensitive materials. The use of celestial light in her practice highlights the mutability between artist, material and matter.
Melanie is the Director of the London Alternative Photography Collective, which promotes the use of analogue and alternative photography processes.
Melanie organises science and astronomy themed events at Soho House and Ace Hotel for super/collider, and regularly conducts interviews with other artists working in the field of astronomy.
