Michel is a second-generation Director of Photography based in Toronto, Canada. His late father Jean Bisson started him off shooting at the young age of sixteen. Michel has been in the business ever since the age of nineteen, Michel landed a contract with CBC Sports in Montreal then with CBC French in Toronto. Wanting to grow more in the industry he went freelance and never looked back.
Being bilingual in French and English, Michel has shot everywhere from the Philippines to Africa shooting everything from in the water with Beluga whales to the Studio.
Michel has been shooting for over twenty five years, and has worked with just about every major network in North America in TV Series to Commercials, Movies, Documentary, Corporate, 3D and Sporting events, Michel has done it all. He has a history of always trying to give the best quality possible to his clients. Starting off in Film with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation then on to video, owning several cameras from Film cameras like the Aaton LTR 16mm to the latest cameras like the Sony F55 Cine Alta and the Sony FS7 camera. Michel is always in tune with the latest technologies.
Michel Bisson believes in owning his equipment, which guarantees a great final product. A believer in knowing what state his equipment is in, and every nuance associated with each piece of equipment, he owns every thing from Cameras, Jib’s to Dolly’s, Slider, Lighting and Grip plus Sound equipment.
The long and short of it is that he just wants the shoot to go as smoothly as possible so that way he has a happy client and gets hired again. His Father told him when he started out that you are only as good as your last JOB. Michel has been living by that rule ever since.
