Mike Clay
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
The bastard son of a cook and a clown teacher, it was almost a fait accompli that Mike would one day become a filmmaker.
As a video-journalist, Mike is a shooter-producer that seeks out small, investigative stories that need telling. Mike has field produced for a national prime-time news & current affairs show in Australia, The Project on Network Ten. He's also worked as an associate producer on the ABC's flagship news channel, ABC News 24, and freelanced regularly for the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Guardian Australia, producing video-journalism news content for three of Australia's largest news websites.
As a documentary filmmaker, Mike's passion is producing character-driven stories that explore difference and bring people together around a common set of experiences and desires. For mike, emotion and affect are more important than information. Mike is currently working on his first documentary 'Tiger mum & the ballroom dancer', which follows a chinese-australian brother & sister dance duo as they compete in the international ballroom dance championships in the UK.
