Miriam Zlobinski, born in Essen, currently does her PhD thesis "Political image in photojournalism of the old Federal Republic" at the Humboldt University of Berlin. She completed the study of history and art history in Kiel and Berlin in 2014, with the published special edition of "Volksgenossin in der Modefotografie". Her research focuses on press photography in the Federal Republic, photography and new media as well as fashion photography. She is an educated journalist and presenter and currently a member of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in the photo editor class, where she does portfolio reviews and creates in ccoperation with the ICP New York the photobook "New York Edited - Identity". She worked editorially for radiostations like RBB, and TV stations like the ZDF and is currently publishing articles on the online platforms Visual-History.de and OKS-LAB.de. She was photo editor and head of the Berlin Jazz Photobook "10 Years New Standard" 2015. Most recently, she was curator for the exhibition "We are all under one sky" at the Maxim Gorky Theater for the Festival Theater of Democracy (opening 8.10.2016) and supervises photographic works and publications and assist f.ex. in projects like Reporters without borders yearbook. On the occasion of the EMOP (European Month of Photograpy), she initiated the panel "Augen zu und durch - to the contemporary role of photographic graduates", which she also chaired. She lives and works in Berlin.
