Moa Karlberg
Kontinent
Stockholm, Sverige
Photographer, videographer and picture editor, taking assignments for organizations and magazines.
I have been working as a still photographer since 2006, both with short assignments and long-term personal projects gaining international recognition. I have been a picture editor at the documentary magazine Re:public, produced a number of exhibitions and a couple of books, given several lectures and talks about my photography.
Some of the clients I've had the pleasure to work with are the Nordic Council, the Swedish Institute, The New York Times, Die Zeit, Gapminder, Greenpeace, Unionen, Goethe Institut, Tidningen Vi and many more.
Authenticity is the key word for all my imagery. I am interested in visual communication that changes our ways of seeing subjects we thought we already knew. Many times these types of projects can be labelled as journalism as well as art.
I've won three 1st awards in the Swedish Picture of the Year and received various grants, one which helped me produce my book "Ser dig se mig" (Watching you watch me). My latest book is "Stuglandet – en guide till fria övernattningar", photo by me and text by Kjell Vowles, published by Votum förlag 2017 (3rd edition printed 2018). This book encourages and guides the readers to climate-friendly and cheap tourism in out beautiful home country Sweden. In my job I am always looking for possibilities to highlight and help climate progressive movements and individuals.
In 2016, I attended a documentary film workshop at Escuela de Cine y TV in Cuba, and since then I have been producing videos – filming, and editing in Adobe Premiere.
