Guatemalan photojournalist and documentalist film producer and photographer of Mayan descent. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication and has studied in Guatemala, Chile and Belgium. As an independent documentary photographer, she has documented indigenous movements throughout Guatemala and South America. She has held exhibitions in Spain, Guatemala and Chile, about the reality of Mayan communities in Nebaj, Quiché Guatemala. With this work she seeks to share everyday life in a more intimate and complex way while growing closer to her traditional roots. Morena’s projects focus on the environment, gender, and indigenous movements and land rights. She has collaborated with a diverse set of organizations (Seattle Foundation, Camy Found, Oxfam, UN, Amnesty International). She has also worked as a fixer for the IWMF, Stars Foundation, and Buck Productions, she was a producer on IXCANUL, a French-Guatemalan feature film.
