From the Kahiltna Glacier base camp on Denali to twelve days at -30 degree temperatures following the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race Joshua has spent more than nine years photographing the tame and not so tame parts of Alaska.
His first introduction into Alaska’s backcountry was a 28-day canoe trip through the western Brooks Range. During this adventure he found out what it truly means to be alone in the wilderness. Since then Joshua has photographed and filmed in many of Alaska’s bush villages and cities for a variety of news organizations including KTUU-Channel 2, the Anchorage Daily News, the Rocky Mountain News, the Associated Press, NBC National, Russia One, and The New York Times.
In addition he has shot several short documentaries including a historical film about one of the local universities, Alaska Pacific University.
Along side his Alaska touring, Joshua has also traveled, climbed and hiked through the Lower 48, Canada, Vietnam, Bolivia and Argentina. One of his favorite memories was hiking to 17,000 feet and camping next to Laguna Glacial under the towering peak of Mt. Illampu. When Joshua is not photographing he enjoys mountaineering, climbing and taking mid-afternoon naps.
