I have been taking photos for the last 10 years, I have had orders for the last 4 years, and have begun personal projects for the last 2 years. After 12 years involved in tourism work, I decided to do what I enjoy 100% : photos. The choice between a hopeless present and a better future had been done. Ali left his family and his country , Iraq in 2015. The way has been long and winding, smugglers's decisions were unstable and dangerous while the sea was terrible. Ali has unpacked his dreams in Belgium. He has regularly met Terry and Dirk during film projections for refugees organized by an association. These men decided to welcome him, his insomnias, his smile and his hopes to their house and their life.
Each day is a different way-of life. Women and men, 7 in total, who share their life in the same house. Here, ordinary moments are always extraordinary. Because 7 people live in the same place means 7 more moments to share, 7 more life stories, passions, dishes in the kitchen sink, shoulders to cry on and hands to pick you up. Only the table is alone, but when the evening comes, it wakes up with everyone around it, all the food over it, and with all the jokes thrown at each other. Each person has arrived here for their own special reason, the same when they leave, but everybody comes back again to visit, because definitely, this house is not like any other.
