JULIANA NAKATANI
30100 Alès, França
Brazilian, born in France, I had the opportunity to live for four years in Berlin, Germany, during my adolescence. These two experiences were essential to develop my interest in photography since my early childhood, either discovering the magic of black and white revelation, carried out by my parents in the small Parisian bathroom, or visiting museums, photographic exhibitions, galleries, street parties, the streets and the city itself, when I lived in Berlin. Returning to Brazil, I finished high school and entered the letters course, which I completed in 2003.
That same year, I began my professional life away from the academic ambient. I took part of planning and executing the construction of a shipyard, as well as a 17-meter catamaran sailboat, directly involved in manual work.
During this period, I started studying photography taking courses in Salvador, by the Casa da Photographia Institute and by Labfoto, as well as workshops with renowned photographers, among them, Walter Firmo and Iatã Cannabrava and GRIP - Grupo de Research in Reception, Analysis and Criticism of the Photographic Image. In parallel, she started rehearsals following a documentary and authorial line. Since then, she has participated in several exhibitions, projections and publications.
Currently, she lives aboard the sailboat she built, documenting a little of what she is living on board.
