Nelly Ating is a freelance Journalist and doubles as a Photojournalist reporting from the frontlines of conflict zones in Nigeria. She uses photography to enhance storytelling, as a genre, which has gained increasing relevance in matching figures with actual proof. Her work has been published on renowned local and foreign dailies and blogs: CNN, Premium Times, Vanguard, Thisday. She is also a Digital Marketing Specialist at the American University of Nigeria, Yola, where she spearheaded the first in-house digital recruitment effort for the University.
She also operates a blog and her website is nelly-ating.format.com/collections Asides writing on social, development, and humanitarian issues in Nigeria, Nelly also engages in providing relief to IDPs by raising funds to provide clean water for settlements of internally displaced persons from Yobe, Borno, and the Adamawa States. When she is not on the field, she is exploring and traveling around Nigeria, other parts of Africa and the Maldives.
