Allentown, PA, United States
My name is Chris Post and I am a photographer / videographer based near Allentown, PA.
Journalism is a second career for me. I got my start in public safety and did that for 20 years before jumping over to journalism. I specialize in covering breaking and spot news especially in situations where there is heavy law enforcement presence and or interaction with firefighters or paramedics, which nowadays is just about every large event and or disaster.
I speak the “language” of public safety, understand what is happening and can read the environment and anticipate the pending actions. Having this edge helps me better cover the news and ultimately stay safe.
As an example, In Baltimore at the riots I was able to understand the hand signals from riot crews and decrypt the scanner chatter in preemptive preparation of a large sweep by police clearing out a park full of protestors.
Over the past year I have covered some of the largest events on the east coast for AP. I was at the Baltimore Riots, Philadelphia Amtrak derailment, Danamora NY Prison Break, US Papal Visit, Run-a-way blimp crash and the 2016 east coast blizzard to name a few. In 2012 I covered the RNC in Tampa so I am familiar with political conventions, the environment and the groups who show up to protest.
As a contract journalist I come fully equipped with multiple pro level Canon broadcast grade video cameras that have SDI output. With the SDI output I can connect to your video distribution systems and or into a transmitter like a LiveU or Dejaro. I also have portable led lights and the associated hardware to make all this work. I also have pro level still photo capability. I can ingest, rough cut, edit and transmit video clips remotely to you while on the move with FTP from my laptop. I have a knack for tracking people down, getting the interviews and filing my video under a nearly impossible deadline. I am also familiar with satellite communications and can operate a live truck.
