Nicolás Savine
Paris, France
I lived in Buenos Aires for 16 years and earned a degree in Photography from the University of Palermo. My thesis, The Iconography of Buenos Aires’ Social Identity, studied the use of short focal lenses and the influence of the French Humanist Photography trend (1948-1969), as a way to emphasize and characterize the identity of the citizens of Buenos Aires.
My work in Buenos Aires has involved portrait, studio and press photography for local political institutions and businesses, as well as for media outlets based in France and Argentina. I was also a teacher at the University of Palermo (2010-2017) where I taught three seminars that focused on the 20th century Humanist Photography currents in Europe and North America, and on trends in Contemporary Photography.
I moved back to Paris to further my career by offering photographic services as a photojournalist and portraitist in France and Europe. Additionally I work as a writer for the Argentinian and French magazines Probá (Argentina), Digital photo and Tout savoir faire en Photographie published by Oracom (France).

SANTA CRUZ
Nicolás Savine
Patagonia
el viento rebelde
galopa en la vastedad
salvaje bramido
y nada puede el pastizal
sino someterse
interminables planicies
guardaron en la memoria inmigrante
el eco de otros paisajes
dolía mayor la distancia
hasta la tierra natal
en aquellos silencios
donde sólo el viento
hablaba comprensible idioma
espacios hay
en esas pampas
en que el tiempo que fue
es todavía
