The photographer Sascha Niethammer was born in 1984 and lives in Hamburg. Since his early childhood, he constantly lived in contact with the art of seeing. He grew up in an artist household and learned how to interpret pictures and their content and this knowledge influenced his career.
He is the opinion that every picture is subjective, so he does objective photography. He mixes different levels of street photography and tells whole stories of life in the streets this way. His character influences the pictures of course, too.
He takes pictures from a short distance, so the viewers get the impression that they are able to really feel what the atmosphere or situation in the picture is like. He works with available light, which causes much more homogeneous results. Naturalness is very important to him. He likes to show every facet of life, this is why he works with random groups without stereotypes. His camera is his constant companion and this makes his pictures so authentic.
It is not possible to put Sascha Niethammer into a certain pigeonhole. He uses different styles. His portraits and documentaries are simply art and so there is nothing more to say to that.
