Dario J Laganà
Berlin
Dario-Jacopo Laganà is an Italian photographer living in Berlin for 5 years. After spending some years on travel photography (especially in Middle East) and photojournalism, he decided to inspect studio photography with experimental portraits projects and to work on interior and architecture photography. From his personal interest in the Second Great War and the Cold war, he started the blog Elephant in Berlin, to provide documentary evidence of the city and its changes, of the historical places, buildings and curiosities on Berlin and Brandenburg.
He's the co-author of the book “We Will Forget Soon” (www.wewillforgetsoon.com), a documentary photographic research project on the traces of the Soviet Army in the former East Germany, developed in 3 years travelling about 8000 km, documented more than 300 locations with an archive with over 10,000 photos. The project has been funded by the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur - German Federal Foundation for the Reconciliation of the SED Dictatorship (www.bundesstiftung-aufarbeitung.de) and the Italian Cultural Institute Berlin. The project has been part of the official program of the Berlin Art Week and the Nordwind Festival (Dresden-Hellerau) in 2015. The project has been also officially presented at the City/Municipality of Rome, Capitoline Hill.
He's the official photographer for the events of the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin and for special events of the Italian Embassy in Berlin.
He has been teacher, artist and coordinator for the Berlin workshop of the INSART project (http://www.insart.eu), a social art project developed in 5 european countries and funded with support from the European Commission.
