Patrícia Barbosa (1989) is a research-based artist working with photography, text and objects. Usually delves into long-term projects connected with hidden realities, questioning the dicotomy of post-memory and evidence.
Post-graduate studies in Photography from School of Arts, UCP (Porto, PT); graduated in Communication Sciences, with specialization in Multimedia, by University of Porto (PT).
Her work was presented in several exhibitions and in national and international publications.
Winner of the VIII Galicia Award for Contemporary Photography (2020) and the Young Portuguese Creators Award - Photography (2015). Selected to represent Portugal (Photography category) in the international exhibition dedicated to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (2017).
In 2019 took part in an artistic residency promoted by MDOC - International Documentary Festival of Melgaço (PT) and, in 2012, in the artistic residency "Living in Art" with the Robinson Foundation, Portalegre (PT).
She exhibited, among other places, at the Pazo de San Marcos (Lugo, Galiza), Creative Macau - Center for Creative Industries (Macau), Portuguese Photography Centre (Porto, PT), at the Art Biennial of Cerveira (Vila Nova de Cerveira, PT), at CAAA - Centre for Art and Architecture Affairs (Guimarães, PT) and at Museum of Territory (Famalicão, PT).
Based in Portugal.
