Patrícia Monteiro is a documentary photographer and photojournalist currently based in São Paulo, Brazil. She's a graduate from the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, besides having diplomas in Journalism (PUC-SP) and Social Sciences (USP).
Patrícia is interested in covering social issues like housing, poverty, environmental issues, protests and resistance fights, seen so many times in building occupations all though São Paulo, but also she loves documenting people's singular lives, such as the elderly women she photographed while in New York City, with the idea that politics are in everything, from the place we live in to how we live our lives.
Her work has been published in Al Jazeera, El País, Bloomberg Business, Valor Econômico, Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, VICE Brasil, Latin Post, EBS News (South Korea), Harmony Magazine (India), among others.
Available for assignments in Brazil and elsewhere.
