I am a professional photojournalist and freelance photographer, employed full-time with The Daily Gazette in Schenectady, New York. I have over 30 years of full time newspaper staff and freelance experience. I am a member of the National Press Photographers Association where I was named Region 2 Photographer of the Year in 1992, 2008, and 2009. (Region 2 encompasses all newspapers in New York State, Ontario, Canada and Quebec).
Working for a news publication has given me the opportunity to photograph many different aspects of photography. From controlled lighting situations in a studio, to natural and available light in the field. Shooting breaking news and sporting events has taught me to react quickly and anticipate situations as they unfold in front of me. My freelance photography is dedicated to the more commercial side of the industry. My style is simple, spontaneous, creative, emotional, and, most importantly, fun! I have a keen sense for human behavior, and the patience and anticipation to capture those moments as they unfold in front of me.
There is nothing better than making a living at something you simply love and can’t get enough of. This belief shines through in my work, as my style is simple, spontaneous, fun, and creative.
