I am a freelance journalist, photographer and editor, working on the confluence of the environment, human rights, business and economic development.
My writing and photographs have appeared in Newsweek, The Guardian, VICE News, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, WIRED Magazine, The New Statesman and other UK and US titles.
I have reported from more than 30 countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, winning several awards as both a writer and an editor.
Between 2008 and 2011, I was the launch editor of the Financial Times Ltd’s This is Africa magazine, a current affairs and business publication focusing on emerging African economies. Since then I have spent time on staff at CNBC and the Huffington Post UK; run Surviving the Future, a publication about climate change and geoengineering on Medium.com; and helped set up several new magazines for global foundations, private investors and leading media companies.
I am an occasional pundit and analyst on African politics and economics, working for the Economist Intelligence Unit and other private clients. I have appeared on Bloomberg TV Africa, Al Jazeera English and CNBC, as well as on numerous radio shows and podcasts.
