Gerry Balfe smyth

Gerry Balfe Smyth was born in Dublin Ireland and now lives in London, England.
He studied photography at the The Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology Dublin, before honing his craft assisting internationally acclaimed photographer’s Bruce Weber in New York, Perry Ogden and Mike Bunn in Dublin. He then moved on to pursue his own career in photography specializing in portraiture and fashion photography. He regularly shoots for the Sunday Times magazine.
Gerry is also a cinematographer. In 2008 he collaborated with actor and filmmaker Eoin Macken on the creation of ‘Dreaming For You’ a feature film shot in New York, which premiered at the 2009 Galway Film Fleadh, Ireland and was also selected for the 2009 Los Angeles Short Film Festival.
Recent commissions include a set of portraits for Topman featuring The Strypes.
Gerry is currently working on a series of portraits for an exhibition based on characters who frequent Portobello Market London.
