Bangalore, Karnataka, India
I am a self taught, independent media professional with a strong desire to experience the human spirit in all its forms. I work on stories and projects in the areas of human rights, uncommon communities, governance in India, performing arts and sport. I have a personal practice that embraces psychology, spirituality, exploration and nature.
I’m on a constant quest for improved effectiveness in my storytelling and visual literacy in an attempt to go beyond binary approaches in both my journalistic and personal work.
In April 2015, I received the Red Ink Award for Journalistic Excellence by the Mumbai Press Club in the photography category.
I have contributed in print and online to publications such as the BBC, Swissinfo, National Geographic Traveller, Hindustan Times, Business Line, First Post, Live Mint, Yahoo!, Tehelka, and Caravan, using both a long form and reportage approach. I have been commissioned by Amnesty International, Greenpeace and Red Bull, to name a few and collaborated with those and other NGOs to work on advocacy campaigns, both local and national.
My work has been presented in four solo exhibitions in Bangalore, won three Honourable Mentions in the 2012 Lucie Awards, and was selected in a group exhibit as part of an Asia festival at the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada. Over the last 12 years, I have also worn the professional hats of media strategy advisor, creative consultant, radio jockey, web/print editor and musician.
Live in Bangalore & Mumbai, India.
Happy to travel anywhere for assignments.
