More and more people are leaving Russia to take up permanent residence abroad. Many choose Thailand as their first foreign abode for its not-too-exotic exoticism: a lot is known about the place. The internet is teeming with information, and the prices are more than reasonable. This photo project is an attempt to compare the destinies of Russian emigrants.
A space for art

The town of Zarechny in Penza region (Russia) has a population of around 60 thousand and is a Closed Administrative Territory. The main enterprise is “Start”, an industrial association named after M.V. Protsenko. It is one of the biggest concerns of Rosatom, specialising in the preparation of high technology for national defence.
In the town there are several different recreational areas available for children whilst the parents are busy at work. One of them is the children’s school of art where around 800 children study
Mari prayer

Mari people called last pagans of Europe. Their religion is based on faith in the forces of nature to which man must honor and respect .
Migration Mari Northeast began in the late XVI in connection with the forced Christianization of the population in the lands captured Kazan Khanate. Part of the so-called Eastern Mari settled in the south- west of the Sverdlovsk region .
Osh Kugu Jumo (Mari supreme God) - the protector of cattle therefore Ural Mari sacrificed to white stallion. Now such a victim is not brought. It replaces pets - ram or bull, waterfowl - ducks, geese. In early June, a sacred grove near the village of Sars held prayer which was attended by both locals and invited Mari with other settlements
