Rebeca Binda
Women Photograph
Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil
Rebeca Binda is a Brazilian documentary photographer, journalist, researcher, and curator currently based between Brazil and London, United Kingdom. Her work is mostly focused on socio-environmental issues, climate justice and women stories.
She is a master in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. Rebeca dedicates herself to documenting the diverse realities that make up her homeland, Brazil. With her local insights and international experience, her goal is to act a a bridge between South America and the Global North: on the one hand, amplify Brazilian stories and issues on an international level; on the other, help promote local and hyperlocal initiatives so that traditional and marginalised communities hold autonomy to tell their own stories.
In her storytelling, she strives to co-create with the participants of the narratives by constantly working towards acknowledging her privileges and using them as best as she can to break cycles of systemic injustice. Over the past years, she has been learning and experiencing how to use photography, journalism and advocacy to do this.
